Irvin trained at the RSAMD in Glasgow, where he still lives.
He was the live and studio keyboard player with Stiltskin, the band which shot to number one with the song ‘Inside’, as used on the Levi’s ‘Creek’ commercial. He has also played live with Paolo Nutini, toured/recorded with Gun, co-written/toured/recorded with Fish (ex-Marillion), and toured/recorded with Ray Wilson during his post-Genesis solo career.
Irvin co-produced and played on the Frankie Miller tribute album in 2002, which saw him working with the likes of Brian Robertson (Thin Lizzy), the Sensational Alex Harvey Band, and the BBCSSO Strings.
Previous music theatre work includes: full UK tours of Jesus Christ Superstar, The Full Monty, The Producers, The Wedding Singer and Footloose; as well as deputizing on tours of: Fame, Sunset Boulevard, Miss Saigon, Beauty and the Beast, The King and I, and Cats.
Irvin has appeared on television shows such as: TFI Friday, Children in Need, The Elaine Show (starring Elaine C Smith), and Scottish sitcom Dear Green Place.
