PopKevin Kennedy
Kevin trained at Manchester Polytechnic’s School of Theatre. His professional debut was at the Greenwich Theatre in 1982.
His theatre work includes: in the West End: Idle Hands (Shaw Theatre); Ducking Out (Duke of York’s); and most recently as Amos Hart in Chicago (The Adelphi). Other theatre works include: Just Between Ourselves (Theatre Royal, Windsor); national tours of No Sex Please We’re British, The Rocky Horror Show and a long stint as the Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on tour.
Kevin most recently played Caractacus Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Singapore tour) becoming the first actor to have played both Caractacus Potts and the Child Catcher.
Kevin has enjoyed a successful musical career starting as the bass player with the now legendary the Smiths, later going on to form his own band Bunch of Thieves. Finally after being signed by Simon Cowell to BMG Records he went on to lead a successful tour of New Zealand and the gold selling album Present Kennedy. Kevin is currently signed to Warner Brothers. Kevin’s television work includes: The Last Company Car for Stephen Friers; Keep on Running (BBC). He recently made a guest appearance on Blue Murder with Caroline Quentin, and as Mick Carter in Doctors. Kevin filmed two series of Kevin’s Spanish Capers, which he wrote and presented. Kevin is probably best known for his portrayal of ‘sex symbol’ Curly Watts in Coronation Street.
