General Manager

Peter Gibbon/Hansen

Peter trained in technical theatre stage management and design at Mountview Theatre School in the late 80s. This had followed 12 years of semi-professional work in and around Middlesbrough, his hometown. During those 12 years he stage-managed, designed sets, lighting and sound but only once ventured onstage (never again). He did numerous technical roles at his local receiving venue working with such diverse performers from Oscar Peterson to Cannon and Ball and AC/DC to Lenny Henry. Years of retail management held him in good stead and very soon after leaving Mountview he was in the role of Company Manager. Years of touring and four seasons at Regent’s Park helped to give a fuller understanding of the theatre industry. In the mid-90s he came into the West End as Company Manager, mainly doing straight plays but eventually entered into musical theatre on the musical Rent (Shaftesbury). Several musicals followed: Napoleon (Shaftesbury); All You Need Is Love (Queen’s); The Witches of Eastwick (Prince of Wales); We Will Rock You (Dominion). Taking a short break from Rock You in 2005 Peter Company-Managed Acorn Antiques (Theatre Royal Haymarket) for Phil McIntyre Entertainment, then returned to the show. In 2007 the producers of Rock You approached Peter to General-Manage the show, which he was delighted to undertake. Peter has produced several of his own projects in recent years.
